Mi llave del coche ha dejado de funcionar, ¿Ahora que hago?

My car key has stopped working, what do I do now?

And suddenly your keys don't work.

You go shopping, and when it's time to get home, you want to put your bags in the trunk... But surprise! No matter how much you turn your car keys, you can't open the door.

My keys were working fine just a moment ago. What could have happened?

Most modern keys have a unique identification code that prevents anyone else from opening or starting the car, even if they have an exact copy of the key's shape. This code is stored inside a complex circuit called a transponder. This circuit is responsible for storing and wirelessly transmitting the identification code to the car when you insert your keys into the lock.

Over time, it's normal for this circuit to malfunction and stop working correctly. When this happens, both the ignition and the door opening systems stop working.

Going to the dealership isn't always the best idea.

And not because of the quality of service. A key identical to the one you received when you bought the car can cost around €160 at your dealership. They opt to offer you a new key instead of repairing the old one. And let's not forget the turnaround time: usually between 3 and 7 days...

That's why we always recommend going to an electronic locksmith to repair your keys. Repairs are usually much cheaper and take much less time.

At Ecumotorstock, we have over 15 years of experience in key duplication, repair, and recovery. Therefore, we can guarantee the speed, quality, and affordability you need when repairing your car keys.
